My pc, laptop, has a DVD/CD slot. When I place a DVD into the holder, the most I can do is see a list of the files on the DVD.

I checked with the producer (never works on weekends) and he said, "just pop the DVD into the Drive and it will start." Well, it doesn't.

In my Device Manager, it does show a HL-DT-STDVD + RW Gu90N under the DVD info, and says it is working properly.

I would think that the Dell computer would automatically pick up and play the DVD.

Where am I going wrong?

Believe it or not, Microsoft in their infinite wisdom did away with the great Windows Media Center in Windows 7. It was deprecated in Windows 8 and removed in Windows 10. You can no longer play DVDs in Windows 10 unless you pay $15 for the crappy Windows DVD player app or install the much better free VLC player.

If you find VLC useful please consider a small donation. That will allow development and improvements to continue.
