Hello!

First of all: I am not really a gamer and thus don't have a lot of knowledge about hardware.   That's why I am seeking for help in this forum. And secondly I want to spend as less money on new hardware as possible. Anyway, I would like to play two games: Cities in Motion 2 and GTA 5. Unfortunately, with my current system I get very low fps (around 15 until down to 3 if heavily played) with the first of these games and with GTA I do not have any data yet because I do not own it. GTA 4 was just fine. I would like to upgrade the component, that most likely gets me in trouble. The problem is, due to my missing knowledge with all this, I don't know whether my plans are going to bring any improvement or not.

Could you help me by projecting the improvement I would get with fps in Cities in Motion 2 and the performance of my system with GTA V with either plan 1 or plan 2?

My current system:
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 5850
Mobo: MS-7501 Version 3.1 with AM2+
Windows 7 Home Premium
RAM: 6 GB

My plan 1:
Since I meet all the recommended system specs for CiM2 except the CPU, I would change my current CPU to the best AM2+ Quad Core CPU, which would be an AMD Phenom II X4 955.

The recommended specs are:

  • CPU: 3 GHz Quad core
  • OS: Microsoft Windows 7/8
  • GPU: nVIDIA GeForce GTX460, 1 GB RAM or AMD Radeon HD 6850, 1 GB RAM

My plan 2:
I've got a used hardware bundle that I could use:
CPU: Intel Xeon E5450, 4x 3GHz
GPU: GeForce GTX570
Mobo: Asus P5Q Deluxe
But I would need to buy a new OS.

Would either of these two options improve the performance noticably? Which one is better/ more reasonable?

Thank you in advance! :thumbup2:
