Hello there, I am having an issue that is making me tear my hair out. I have a Win10 machine and a program called Client Service.exe constantly runs on startup. This program takes up enough CPU that games like BF1 lag when they did not before. The location of this program is a folder called sbowmdl in my program files. If i delete Client Service out of task manager and then delete sbowmdl my computer does not have a noticeable difference other than a drop in CPU usage and my games running perfectly. The issue is that this folder is created everytime I turn my computer on and the program auto runs on startup as well. My routine is to immediately delete client service and then sbowmdl, but I'm just getting tired of having to do this and obviously some malware hiding somewhere in my computer is creating this folder. BUT! Nothing I do can detect what is doing this. Malwarebytes, Hitman Pro, AVG, Avast, Norton, AdwCleaner, CCleaner, and RKill detect neither sbowmdl/client service or the thing that creates it. It's driving me insane. Not to mention the fact that  Chrome whenever I try googling anything about it, brings me to Bing! I am at a loss for what to do. I can't even reinstall windows!!!! I can't reset, I can't even use a god damn boot disk. NOTHING WORKS. Thank you so much for reading this and if you have any ideas, please let me know I'll do anything but take it to a computer store for them to charge me $200 for labor. Thanks...

Welcome to BC...

Could be a Steam problem, malware or hardware problem. Best that you start a new topic in malware removal forum to eliminate malware as the problem.

Please follow the instructions in the Malware Removal and Log Section Preparation Guide starting at Step 6.

  • If you cannot complete a step, then skip it and continue with the next.
  • In Step 6 there are instructions for downloading and running FRST which will create two logs.

When you have done that, post your logs in the Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs forum, NOT here, for assistance by the Malware Response Team.

Start a new topic, give it a relevant title and post your log(s) along with a brief description of your problem, a summary of any anti-malware tools you have used and a summary of any steps that you have performed on your own. If you cannot produce any of the required logs...start the new topic anyway. Explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happened when you tried to create them. A member of the Malware Removal Team will walk you through, step by step, on how to clean your computer.

After doing this, please reply back in this thread with a link to the new topic so we can close this one.

DO NOT bump your new topic. Wait for a response from one of the Team Members.
