Greetings BC,

I recently downgraded, from Windows 8, to Windows 7 Home Premium, on a Toshiba Satellite L555D-s7005. I have installed all of the available drivers, from the Toshiba website, but the system is still not able to recognize the optical drive. I know that there should really not be a problem, with the internal hardware, because the drive worked perfectly well, while installing the Windows 7 OS. I have completed all of the steps listed on the following link, with no luck. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/314060/your-cd-or-dvd-drive-is-not-recognized-by-windows-or-other-programs

If someone could please assist me with this issue, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm really not sure what to try next. I would like to add, that I have also checked the internal drive, for any loose connections, and everything is secure.

Thank you, for your time.

Is there an optical drive detected in Device Manager? Is the drive detected in Disk Management?

Thank you, for the reply, John. No, the drive was not detected in either of those. The strangest thing happend a little while ago, though. I turned on the system, and once logged in, a window appeared notifying me, of the disk drive being installed. I let it sit for a minute, and before I knew it, the drive was fully detected. I don't know what that was about. I must have restarted that thing over a dozen times, since installing the OS, and updates. Anyway....I guess the problem ended up solving itself.

Thank you, again.
