Friends,

Windows 10 stops loading and goes to Auto Repair screen.

Auto repair doesn't fix problem.

Ran chkdsk in dos and it didn't find any bad sectors

tried scandisk in dos and it would not run.

tried reinstall and it stopped running and it said it encountered a problem.

tried windows media on a usb drive to repair and/or boot from and ran into the same problems.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Bill

Also I cannot operate in safe mode. I can initiate commands in DOS. Nothing else works.

Peace, Bill

Sounds as if there's a hard drive problem (just a guess at this point).

Please start with these free, bootable hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/initdiag.html

If you have problems getting the hard drive test to boot, post back here for more suggestions.

Include the make and model of your system at that time.

Thanks for the response USASMA,

Just finished memory test, no issues.

Booted Windows Media from the USB. Ended up stuck in Windows Repair.

Booted BitDefender from USB. No viruses found.

Now I am going to run a hard drive diagnostic program. Wish me luck.

Peace, Bill

Friends,

Hard drive rescue program didn't find any hard drive problems.

I am going to replace the registry with the RegBack file in DOS.

If that doesn't work, a clean boot seems to be the only thing left.

Peace, Bill
