My HP laptop was plugged in but the laptop didn't know it was plugged in--it was using the battery instead until the battery drained. It shut down and wouldn't start back up. I replaced the battery, it's the same as the original. I put the new battery in and it started back up but otherwise it doesn't know there's a new battery in it. It says the battery in very low and was about to shut down again so I shut it down. I thought that if I got a new battery I could get back on and bring up the system properties, find out just what model it is, and order the proper power jack to replace and the laptop would be fixed. The battery was so low (it said) that I didn't have time to even bring up the system properties and get the information. Now I have to wonder if the power jack is the problem. What should I do?
