I would really appreciate a little help from you knowledgeable guys.

Since an udate a few months ago, I cannot print from certain applications such as Adobe Reader, Foxit Reader, Azz Cardfile, Roboform and Thunderbird. I can print perfectly from Libre Office, Lightroom, Windows Photo Viewer and Nitro Reader 5.

I have tried the following:

Uninstalled and Re-installed the printer drivers, including the latest updates at least half a dozen times;

Used "find printer" from the contro; panel;

Uninstalled and re-installed the affected apps;

Used the built in Windows trouble shooter several times;

Performed a Scan now and repair several times.

The error messages I get are:

From Foxit Reader, "The current printing driver is not available. Please reinstall the driver or chhose another driver".

From Azz Cardfile "Operation not supported on selected printer".

From Thunderbird, no message but file is not sent to the print queue.

My system is W10 Home 64bit, core i7 cpu at 3.07 Ghz, 12GB RAM

My printers are a Canon Pixma Pro-100 and an Epson Workforce Pro WF-5690DWF.

I have now run out of ideas and all suggestions gratefully received.

Hi,

Its a strange problem indeed...

Try to disable the auto default printer on Windows 10 http://ccmexec.com/2016/02/how-to-disable-the-windows-10-1511-default-printer-feature/

maybe the old LegacyDefaultPrinterMode help!

Also make sure that on the Printer Security Settings the user Everyone have permissions to print.

Are the printers wired directly to your PC, or over a little local network? Could always check that file and print sharing is enabled in the control panel etc. or something.

I hit my PC when things don't work. :-)

Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. Both printers are on my network, the Epson is ethernet wired and the Canon is wireless. The "Let Windows manage your printers" option has never been ticked.

I finally spat out my dummy on this having suffered the issue for far too long. A clean install of Windows 10 did the trick. I suspect a corrupt registry was the problem.
