Xp Pro Search Not Working

when i click on Search nothing happens and clicking on a link on a web page also fails. i have tried re-loading the search and several .dll's but nothing helps.


i thnk it may be xnsearchassistant.exe causing the problem.

i have also used hyjack this and there is nothing showing up that should not be there.


any ideas???

Run a free online scan here (requires Internet Explorer): http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Also, ensure your antivirus definitions are up to date and perform a full system scan.

Then download the following free programs and have them run full scans:
AdAware
SpyBot Search & Destroy
Microsoft Windows Defender beta

You can find them all with a google search.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

You must use IE to run this and all those in John's link above.

It took less than 2 hours to run on my system. Didn't find any spyware, but the information about other issues that it found was impressive! Good program! It'll replace TrendMicro as my recommended online scan!
