Keeping it short: I just found my 2GB flash drive after I lost it about a month ago. I plug it into my computer and the drive shows up as empty (no files on display) yet has 752mb of occupied space - some sort of a phantom file, perhaps?. Error checking scans reveal nothing. How can I clean out the drive and get this 752mb of lost space back?

I'm sure somebody must be able to help, but if nothing else could you recommend some search strings to enter in google or something? I can't even think how to specifically define this problem...

Sounds like this may be one of them U3 drives? If so, mine have about that space devoted to the U3 stuff. It'll take a tool from the manufacturer to remove it - just go to their website and start searching for things like format U3 drive or remove U3
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
