Specs:

ASUS M51AD:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770
GPU: Nvidia GTX 650
SSD: Crucial MX300 525GB
HDD: Toshiba DT01ACA100 1TB
RAM: Adata MI64C1D1629Z1 2x8GB
MBD: Asus M51AD

I'm a budding documentary filmmaker, and a solid storage/ingesting/transcoding/editing workflow is paramount for me to get my work done. Unfortunately, neither my 3+ year old ASUS or Windows 8.1 are up to this task as of now.

I utilize 5 Seagate/WD USB 3.0 external drives (both portable and desktop w/AC power) in tandem with this Anker 7x USB 3.0 hub:

Windows continuously disconnects/reconnects my external drives every couple of minutes, which apart from being hair-rippingly annoying jeopardizes my data. I'd even researched and switched to this Anker hub from an older model, figuring it was being triggered by this.

This issue appears to be commonplace within 8.1 & 10 for years now, as Google searches linked me to similar cries for help such as this one:

The most common solution I've seen/read about this problem is below:

I gave this a crack this afternoon, but my USB drives don't have that crucial "EnhancedPowerManagementEnabled" registry key so it's of no use to me.

Might just throw in the towel and spring for a Mac if I can't find a solution to this frustrating problem...this board has come through in a pinch for several of my older PC's over the better part of the last decade, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not sure you came across it in your reading but did you disable USB Selective Suspend? I would also change your power configuration to maximum performance.

The guide is for Windows 7 but works for 8.

I've done both already, but the issue persists.

I am assuming this happens on all USB 3.0 ports. I doubt the following will help but possibly tightening up the connection by lifting the USB port prongs with a non-conductive tool would help.
