Recently (about a week ago) every time I surf with IE I get the following from Spybot

"Spybot - Search & destroy has detected an important registry entry that has been changed.
Category: Browser page
Change: Value changed
Entry: Search Bar

Old Data: http://www.google.com/ie
New Data: http://mysearch.myway.com/jsp/dellsidebar."

I click the "Not Accept" button - and get the following message:
Registry change denied

Next time I start surfing with IE - I have to repeat the same excercise.

I have following questions:
1. Is my PC infected?
2. How can I fix the problem

With Spybot's TeaTimer whenever there is a registry change to the system it pops up a notification to allow or deny. If you selected deny change but keep getting the alert, then something is attempting to alter the registry and the pop-up notifications will continue.

From what your describing it appears your browser is set to google and is attempting to change to mysearch.myway. MySearch is an IE Toolbar and homepage/search hijacker targeted at the sites run by MyWay. However, it is pre-installed on some new Dell computers from November 2004. If your using a Dell computer, they have removal instructions here.

If not, then start by doing some thorough scanning. Did you perform a scan with Spybot or any other scanning tool after these alerts started? What OS (Win XP/2000, etc) are you using? What type of anti-virus are you using and when was the last time you ran a scan?

If your running Win XP/2000, download and scan with Ewido Anti-Spyware v4.0 in "SAFE MODE".
Be sure to print out the Ewido Install and Scan Instructions.

You can also download and scan with Ad-Aware SE Personal 1.06. Setup & Configure as shown here.

Other scanning/cleaning tools can be found in BC's List of Virus & Malware Resources.
