USB printer not recognized

both on a Win7 PC and a Win Vista PC, HP 3840 deskjet USB printer, ancient I know but why?, Win 7 PC ; Windows reports DiskmapDLL missing? is no longer recognized, went through the process of ports and device manager, it sees the printer but does not recognize the USB port.

problem may be with the usb cable try to replace the usb cable if till the problem is not resolved then definitely it is the problem with printers logic board

I would uninstall the printer and then reboot and install appropriate driver from HERE.
