I would like to invite all readers of this forum to try out the GarbleCloud (BETA) application. Following is an overview of the application and some links with more information to help you get started.

======

GarbleCloud offers a new way to protect, share & work with your documents in the cloud, without moving away from your favorite platforms like Google Drive and Dropbox.

Some of the cool things that GarbleCloud lets you do:

- access all your files across multiple cloud accounts, from a single unified web interface;

- search over all files and documents (encrypted and regular) across clouds;
       - the days of frustrating "title-only" search in Dropbox are over.

- encrypt files with the AES-256 algorithm with the ease of password-based file-locking;
       - keeps encrypted file's content hidden from Google, Dropbox and even GarbleCloud itself!

- share regular and encrypted files with your colleagues and friends with ease;
       -  you can invite others to signup for GarbleCloud from within the app itself.

- define simple security policies that protect sensitive files from being unnecessarily exposed or shared;

- move files from one cloud to another, store google docs in your Dropbox and a host of other cross-platform operations;

Check out the GarbleCloud website (www.garblecloud.com), watch a demo video or delve into its features. If you need help navigating its many functionalities, take a look at the documentation & videos pages (still in the works). Leave your email address on our website to get regular updates.

Don't forget to sign-up for GarbleCloud from the Google Chrome Webstore (or if you are a G-Suite admin, then add it to your domain from the G-Suite Marketplace listing). You just require a Google Email to sign up. That is all!

Leave a review on Google Chrome Store or G-Suite marketplace pages --  let others know what you like about GarbleCloud and what more features you would like to see in the future.

Feel free to reply here in this thread or write to support@garblecloud.com for any questions and feedback on the application. Also, let us know what you did not like, did not understand or found frustrating about the application. All feedback is welcome and they will go a long way to improve the usability of the application.

You can follow us on FacebookTwitter and LinkedIn and leave your comments there as well.

And please invite your colleagues and friends to sign-up if you like GarbleCloud

Happy Garbling! 😊

NOTE:

- The GarbleCloud application is currently (October 2017) in BETA. We will try our best to keep it up and running without issues, but occasionally there might be some service-disruption and/or performance issues. However, it will not affect the accessibility of your files via the native cloud platforms (Google Drive, Dropbox). Only features specific to GarbleCloud might get affected temporarily. I request you to bear with us as we continue to improve the platform.

- GarbleCloud is free and will continue to support a free tier of service in the future as well. So, no need to worry on that front :-)

The name puts me off instantly. Why would I be inspired to use a service with a name that means to damage communication or harm the integrity of a transmission?

garble

Appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the name. We used the term 'garble' to allude to 'encryption' as it is commonly used in security literature.

I hope you will give it a try even if you don't like the name.

I see nothing wrong with the name, in fact it fits the software, not worse than Process Hacker for a process monitoring tool.

So garblecloud encrypts the files server-side automatically (a la Mega) or the user have to do it locally first?

Encryption, Decryption, encryption key generation, sharing, deletion etc. everything happens entirely on the GarbleCloud (GC) server for now. GC gives users the option to (1) upload files to their cloud drives in encrypted format at the time of upload (they can choose to make them 'searchable' or 'non-searchable' while in encrypted format); (2) Or they can choose files already in one of the connected cloud drives from the GC UI and encrypt them using the option given in the context menu (right-click).
