Connecting external antennas to huawei b525s

Huawei b525s router after connecting two bulky antenna cables (vertical/horizontal polarization) seems to loose signal or bounce from full to minimum signal, what might be the cause what should I check? Is it possible that only one antenna should be connected at the time?
