Thanks a lot for the lists Phil, that's great

I have spent a few hours looking at some of the components and I have a few questions, is there a case you would recommend without the leds on the front? I have my pc on all night and would prefer not to have the light, also it looks like there are lights on the motherboard

Did you choose the pure rock slim because it is small?, is it a good cooler?

Thanks again, I'll keep checking out the other components

You are welcome Alice  :) revised list with a change of case here

Did you choose the pure rock slim because it is small?, is it a good cooler?

Selected it because for a couple of reasons, good reviews, reasonable price and one of the quietest good quality fans that I could find, keep in mind that the list are only suggestions for you to consider and you can change anything that you wish, just be sure to make sure that it is compatible with other hardware.

Thanks Phil, it's unfortunate you cant turn the leds on the corsair case off, I do like it, I like the phanteks also, I'm just a bit worried I'll break the acrylic window, I'm pretty hard on my stuff

Have been looking at a lot of cases, like those 2 with mesh and good cooling, are there any others you would recommend? I found this one that looks pretty tough and seems to have good airflow, it's quite different but about the same price as the phantek, http://www.coolermaster.com/case/lan-box-haf-series/haf-xb-evo/ what do you think?

I looked at some coolers too, what do you think of this one:https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cryorig-h7-single-tower-heatsink-with-120mm-fan-hs-008-cy.html, it seems to perform as good as this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/Noctua-NH-U12S-SE-AM4-premium-grade-cooler/dp/B01N9X2YYN for less money, would these do any better than the pure rock slim?

thanks

Nice case and out of the two would go for the Evo version.

Reason why the pure rock slim was suggested is threefold. quieter than most others, high user ratings and a good price, nothing wrong with either of the fans at your two links btw.

Thanks Phil, do you mean out of the phanteks and the haf xb evo, you would go for the evo?

Sorry to keep throwing cases at you, do you think this one http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/obsidian-series-450d-mid-tower-pc-case# would be a good fit for the other components, the possible cooler etc? I like it but it is smaller than the phanteks and has less clearance

Out of the two HAF chassis would opt for the Evo.

Like the Corsair but wouldn`t pay £104+ for it, better option here

No worries btw, this is a potential big investment so don`t settle until you are 100% happy with the parts list and the price  :thumbup2:

Hi Phil, thanks a lot

regarding the motherboard, the Gigabyte - GA-AX370-GAMING 5, Am I paying more for the leds/lights on it? Are there other motherboards with the same features and quality for less or similar money or is this the one to get?

I was looking at the wd black hard drives as I would like a bigger one than 1gb , they are quite a bit more than the other sata drives, are they that much better than something like this: https://www.ebuyer.com/726224-toshiba-p300-3tb-3-5-sata-high-performance-hard-drive-oem-hdwd130uzsva?

At the same time I saw this: https://www.ebuyer.com/771457-wd-black-pcie-nvme-512gb-ssd-wds512g1x0c, is it comparable to the samsung you suggested https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/XRKhP6/samsung-sm961-256gb-m2-2280-solid-state-drive-mzvpw256hegl-00000? or not as good?

Thanks again

Hi Alice,

Never even give the LEDs on the MB a thought tbh, picked it purely based on the other specs, max amount of RAM, SATA and USB ports etc.

I don`t use HDDs larger than 1TB myself but instead go for multiple 1TB HDDs, easier to keep backed up and less to lose should the drive fail.

WD Black are my 1st choice normally and that 512GB WD Black M.2 card at ebuyer is a bargain, would definitely swap that for the included Samsung.

Suggestion, why not put your own parts list together at PCPartPickers then let us take a look at it for you.
