Hey guys!

I have been using Win 10 since it first started and is was working fine.  Recently, the STORE app stopped opening.  An error message that appears reads:"Something bad happened: Unknown layout specified in manifest".

I have tried -the store reset exe, -the Windows app diagnostic -checking for errors in Windows 10 but nothing has worked.

Thanks.

  1. Open Settings
  2. Then Time & Language
  3. Select Region & Language from options on left
  4. Verify your Country/Region is correct from drop down list, then ensure the appropriate Language Pack is installed.

Hi, try reinstall the manifest. Go to search and type:- command prompt, right click on the returned command prompt and select "run as administrator" an elevated cmd prompt will open. Copy all the cmd text below and right click anywhere in the cmd prompt window and select paste:-

PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage *WindowsStore*).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}"

Press enter, Restart ( must be restart, not shutdown) computer, try store now.

Try to reset the Windows Store app

  • Open administrative Windows PowerShell and then run the following command
  • Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

If the error still persits, set the device location to UK helped to fix the Windows Store problems.
