htc 530 os completely missing/wiped?

i tried to restart my phone but it is (still) stuck on the default logo screen.

i put it in download mode and then recovery but in recovery mode it said that i had no os installed.

does anyone know what could have caused this and/or how to get it working again? thanks!!

(i checked the htc website and i can download a rom but that mode isnt even working)

(edit: i got it into download mode)
