Laptop Hardrive

I have a IBM a21m laptop and my hardrive crashed, i oredered a used one had it tested (passed)okay i turned it on inserted a win2000 disk dtarted from cdrom boot and i get no operating system or ntdetect
also isay ntdetect failed

It sounds like your computer is set to boot the hard drive first. Go into the BIOS and reorder the drives to boot CDrom, floppy, then the hard drive. This may solve your problem.
