Everytime I tried to turn my sony laptop off I get a MCI Coomand ahndling window which then takes an age to boot down.

Also when I try to open folders on my hard drive windows crashes, and then hangs.

Can anyone help??

Ive fixed that window using autoruns,however everytime I try to open a folder on my D driver - the pc crashes?

Of these links, the 3rd one describes the MCI process. The 4th one suggests (and I agree) that the most likely culprit is a running program that plays audio. I'd suggest checking what's running to see if you can figure out which one is causing it to hang.

Try terminating each one before shutdown to see if you still get the error. After doing this until you're blue in the face :thumbsup: you'll eventually find the one that's causing the problem. Then you can uninstall it and the problem "should" go away.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

Well I used start up inspector for windows and stopped anythin suspicous from starting up. By stopping Roxi bits amd also quicktime it resolved the issue.

there are some very interesting advice on here.

nice one-im here to stay-Ill try to sort the log out see of theres any issues

you guys are good

but hopefully rubbish at golf - come on UK
