Posted 20 September 2006 - 08:35 PM

I've pulled off more spyware / adware / trojans / viruses off my computer in the last 2 days then I have in the the rest of the computers history lol.

I've been able to quarentine ALOT of s***, but I still get pop-ups of random ads as well as "Download WinAntiVirus Pro 2006!", "Download SysProtect 2006", and other WinFixer programs... I haven't accepted and / or installed any of the WinFixer programs but I've been getting the pop-ups. Also, when I got Sygate, it stopped win???32.tmp.exe file from accessing something, found out this was a backdoor trojan as well.

(Some of these pop up as an IE window pop up or a dialog box. The cancel button doesnt work on the dialog boxes, instead sending me another one saying "Hey, you canceled!" or something along those lines lol)

It was even worse yesterday. My home page was redirected to www.winantivirus.com and I couldn't even access a website properly (I'd get redirected to netster.com search. I had to press the back to the site that I actually was trying to get to.)

So, although I managed to get rid of the worst symptoms I still have lingering traces and such causing problems.

Here's my log:

As you can see, some traces of the online scan services are still there lol.

If I could get help with this it'd be great. All I really want is to not have these stupid winantivirus and other ads popping up.

Hello CanadaAotS...welcome to Bleeping Computer! I will try and help with your problem.....

1. I do not see any installed anti-virus program on your computer....an AntiVirus program is a must! Surfing the 'net today without an anti-virus program is tantamount to computer suicide.

Whether it is a free version like AVG or Anti-Vir, this is a must have. If you have no other AV program you choose to use, choose one of these two, install it, update it, run a system scan and let it fix what it finds.

2. Navigate to C:\HijackThis.exe and rename it to analyzethis.exe....then run analyzethis (HJT) again and post the log it produces....

Now that I'm looking at this, that winlogon notify is there...
I've managed to get rid of some of the pop-ups, but now I get what looks like some kind of log file as a pop-up... I can't remember its name now, but if it comes up again I'll post it.

EDIT:: Also, unaoakg.dll is a BHO that I currently have disabled in IE... not sure what it is exactly, but not taking any chances :flowers:

While we're working together to clean your computer, if you are going to 'clean' things please let me know what you are doing so we both do not become confused...remember I'm not standing over your shoulder looking at what you are doing. I also recommend caution employing fixes from another persons thread....your choice in doing so, but please be careful as fixes can be somewhat computer specific. It does sound like you know a fair amount about computers, but...be careful!

The O20 you now see is legitimate, and not what I expected to see. The BHO you question is bad, but I'm not sure what exactly it is either...

Since you are getting WinAntivirus Pro popups, let's see what VundoFix finds:

1. Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, if this happens, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.
