a7mda4raf,

As I understand your query, you can not log in using the desktop environment you installed, as the normal user, but you can log in as root?

Try this.

After the machine has booted, use <ct>+<alt>+<f1> to open a terminal login.

Log in as root.

Use the "passwd" command to reset the password of your user.

# passwd username

where username is the name you used to create the user.

Type the password you want it to be.

You will be prompted to enter the password twice.

It will tell you if you did not type it the same for both entries.

You can then log out of root simply by using the "logout" command, and try to login as the user, using the new password.

If it works, then reboot the system, and attempt to log in to the desktop.

Cheers!

Naught

a7mda4raf,

You can also try using <ct>+<alt>+<f7> to get back to the desktop login, after you use the terminal to change you users password.

Cheers!

Naught.
