My Dell Inspiron 1521 won;'t connect to the internet.  This is what I've done so far

1) Using another computer I've downloaded the recommended new driver,

2) and saved it to a stick (it came as 2 files, one 38Mb, one okb).

3) Inserted stick in inspiron

4) Clicked on each driver icon on the stick's folder.  Nothing happens

Suggestions?

It's unlikely that a valid download contains a 0kb file.

What version of Windows is the system running?

How was the driver recommended?

Are you able to connect using a LAN cable, and do the automatic driver detection?:

Hi Moderator

I'm running Windows 10 64bit

Driver was recommended in a post to a user of another forum with a similar though not identical problem

I'll try the LAN idea - thanks

Dell doesn't appear to provide WLAN drivers beyond Windows XP for that model. Various sites show up on a Google search offering supposed Windows 10 drivers for the card, but it's never certain what you're getting with such offers.

I would suggest the simplest and safest solution might be to purchase a USB wireless dongle with Windows 10 compatibility.
