Neighbor cannot put his computer into Standby mode.
When he clicks on Start - Turnoff Computer the Turn Off Computer
window has the Standby button grayed out. Only choices he has is
Turn Off or Restart. He used to be able to go into Standby mode.

Would like to have access to Standby button. Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

It oculd be oneof two things. First he needs to go into BIOS and make sure that Advanced Power management is enabled. Once he does that, he needs to go into the control panel in Windows, click on Power Options, and tick the box that says enable Advanced Power Management. Once he does this, he should once again have Standby mode.

Also, make sure he has the latest drivers for his video card, as incorrect or old drivers can also cause this problem.
