Hi o2w4e, you got some infections.

Download HijackThis to your desktop -> Link
Create a new folder named HijackThis to your desktop and move HijackThis.exe into that folder.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

  • Checkmark the "Display the contents of system folders"
  • Under the Hidden files and folders select "Show hidden files and folders"
  • Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files"
  • Click Apply and then the OK and close My Computer.
Go to http://www.uploadmalware.com

Copy the following to the "Topic Where File Was Requested": http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...showtopic=65931

The file "ddcyx.dll" is not in my system32 folder. I ran a search for it and the search came up with nothing... I did upload the other files.

It is looking good now
How is the computer running ?

You don't seem to a firewall running, I suggest that you install one firewall
(If you're using Windows XP Firewall, I recommend that you install one firewall from my list and disable Windows Firewall after the installation.)

These are good (free) firewalls:
- Kerio
- Sygate
- Outpost

You don't have an antivirus on your computer, you must install one antivirus! You won't stay clean without one.

These are good (free) antiviruses:
- Antivir
- Avast
- AVG

Now you can enable Windows Defender guard again and remove VundoFix.
  • Open Windows Defender
  • Click on "Tools"
  • Click on "General Settings"
  • Scroll down to "Real-time protection options"
  • Check "Turn on Real-time protection (recommended)"
  • Click "Save"
  • Exit the program.
Now you can clean Ewido's Quarantine:
  • Open Ewido
  • Click Infections
  • Click Quarantine tab
  • Click Select all
  • Click Remove finally
  • Close the program
Then you should update your Java to the latest version (5.0 update 8 )
  • Start
  • Control Panel
  • Add/Remove Programs
  • Delete the old Java,
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03
  • Then we'll get the latest version of Java -> LINK
  • Scroll down to Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 8
  • Download & install it
Now you can make your hidden files hidden again.
  • Go to My Computer
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options
  • Click the View tab.
  • Checkmark the "Display the contents of system folders"
  • Under the Hidden files and folders select "Show hidden files and folders"
  • Check "Hide protected operating system files"
  • Click Apply and then the OK and close My Computer.

Please rename HijackThis.exe to Scanner.exe
Then post a fresh HijackThis (scanner.exe) log to here.

Then we'll continue :flowers:

Ok lets get you cleaned...

You should print these instructions or save these to a text file. Follow these instructions carefully.

Disable Windows Defender's realtime protection.
  • Open Windows Defender
  • Click on "Tools"
  • Click on "General Settings"
  • Scroll down to "Real-time protection options"
  • Uncheck "Turn on Real-time protection (recommended)"
  • Click "Save"
  • Exit the program.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

Restart your computer to the safe mode:
  • Restart your computer
  • Start tapping the F8 key when the computer restarts.
  • When the start menu opens, choose Safe mode
  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
Run HijackThis, click Do a system scan only, and check the box next to each of these entries if still present. Close all other windows and press Fix checked. If something isn't there, please continue with the next entry in the list.

Ok good, now it is looking clean
How is the computer running at the moment ?

You should remove the old Java versions via Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs if found:

Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6

Please let me know how the computer is running :flowers:

It is running quite well, I can't think of any popups I've gotten today. I already removed the old Java versions, I don't know why they are still on there. Thank you so much for your help. I've been trying to get rid of this Winfixer crap for months.
