when trying to open a drive on the external HDD I am getting message - "Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)". I tried running chkdsk but it ended with error - "file system is RAW". so I checked the disk management and there are multiple partitions:

As I don't need a data backup I tried deleting partitions from here and then formatting the disk but it dint help. I tried running the Minitool Partition Wizard and it shows the disk as "Bad disk":

Please help with steps to recover the disk.

I don't need a backup. It's a seagate drive.

if you dont need anything on the drive, delete all the partitions and format it,

next....test the drive using seatools.....click on seatools for windows

Whoops, I tried deleting the partition and formatting before giving this: http://html5.litten.com/how-to-fix-external-disk-drive-suddenly-became-raw/

a try. It specifically says not to format the partition. Now HDTune and Seatools both are not showing any SMART info about the disk.

Even testdisk spent over 24hrs trying a quick search on the drive. Each cylinder ended with data error :( and found no partitions at all.
