Hello,

You have a nice malware collection out there...

BEFORE BEGINNING, Please read completely through the instructions below. Please also print these instructions or copy them to Notepad (or another word processor), and save it for easier reference. This is because we will be in Safe Mode during the fix and you won’t be able to access the Internet to view these instructions.

Go to start > controlpanel > software > add/remove programs and uninstall releventknowledge and License_Manager (if present)

REBOOT afterwards, important!!
After reboot,

Please download VundoFix.exe to your C:\.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • In case it says that nothing was been found, Right click the list box (white box) in the main VundoFix window.
  • Select “Add More Files?” from the menu that comes up. This will open a new VundoFix window.
  • In the Window: copy and paste next in the first field: C:\WINDOWS\system32\mljge.dll
  • Click the “Add Files” button.
  • Click the "Close Window" button.
  • Click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
  • Turn your computer back on.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.

* Download Smitrem.exe and save the file to your desktop.
Doubleclick it and choose install. This will create a new folder on your desktop with the name smitrem.

* Please download, install, and update Ewido anti-spyware
  • Load Ewido and then click the Update tab at the top. Under Manual Update click Start update.
  • After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
  • Close ewido. Do not run it yet.
* Reboot into Safe Mode`: ( without networking support !)
°To get into the Windows XP Safe Mode, restart your computer and, just before Windows starts to load, tap the F8 key a few times.
Choose Safe Mode from the menu that will appear and press Enter.

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following if still present:

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

* Using Windows Explorer, locate the following folder and delete it if still present:

C:\Program Files\License_Manager

* Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

Still in Safe Mode,
* Clean your Cache and Cookies in IE:
  • Close all instances of Outlook Express and Internet Explorer
  • Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > General tab
  • Click the "Delete Cookies" button
  • Next to it, Click the "Delete Files" button
  • When prompted, place a check in: "Delete all offline content", click OK
* Clean your Cache and Cookies in Firefox (In case you also have Firefox installed):
  • Go to Tools > Options.
  • Click Privacy in the menu on the left side of the Options window.
  • Click the Clear button located to the right of each option (History, Cookies, Cache).
  • Click OK to close the Options window
Alternatively, you can clear all information stored while browsing by clicking Clear All.
A confirmation dialog box will be shown before clearing the information.
* Clean other Temporary files + Recycle bin
  • Go to start > run and type: cleanmgr and click ok.
  • Let it scan your system for files to remove.
  • Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
  • Press OK to remove them.
  • load Ewido and click on the Scanner tab at the top. Click the "Settings" tab and then change the recommended action to Quarantine and click Automatically generate report after every scan. Click back to the "Scan" tab and then click on Complete System Scan. This scan can take quite a while to run, so be prepared.
  • Ewido will list any infections found on the left hand side. When the scan has finished, it will automatically set the recommended action. Click the Apply all actions button. Ewido will display "All actions have been applied" on the right hand side.
  • Click on "Save Report", then "Save Report As". This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again (like on the Desktop).
  • Close Ewido.
* Reboot back into Windows normal mode.

It *could be possible that your internet access will be broken when back into normal mode.
If that happened, perform next:

Go to start > run and type cmd
A dos Window will appear.
Type next in the dos window: netsh winsock reset
hit enter.

REBOOT!

Post a new HijackThis Log and the contents of smitfiles.txt which is present on your Homedrive (C:\ in most cases), the contents of the Ewido log and the contents of C:\Vundofix.txt in you next reply.

Hello,

We have to run Vundofix another time. I see in previous step that the Vundofix didn't recognise the C:\WINDOWS\system32\mljge.dll but showed other files instead, that's why you didn't add that path in the Vundofix windows as I described in my previous instructions, since Vundofix did find files infecected.

So, perform next:
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, Right click the list box (white box) in the main VundoFix window.

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {B7672BAF-E9A3-49B6-86B2-C81719A18A4C} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\sknlhiqf.dll

O15 - Trusted IP range: http://202.67.220.227
O20 - Winlogon Notify: mljge - C:\WINDOWS\system32\mljge.dll

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!

* Download DelDomains.inf and save it to your desktop.
Rightclick on it and choose 'install'.

* Download Combofix to your desktop.
Doubleclick combo.exe
Follow the prompts.
Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang.

When finished and after reboot, it should open a log, combofix.txt.
Post this log in your next reply together with a new hijackthislog.

Your log looks clean again. Let's deal with the leftovers now...

One remark first...
I notice from your log that you are running more than one different Anti-Virus programs with Auto-protect enabled. Norton, Avira and McAfee
Rather than giving you extra protection, this can actually give problems because of incompatibility issues, can even cause BSODs and decrease the reliability of it seriously!
Also, it causes a serious system slowdown.

I would strongly advise you to only have one Anti-Virus with the Auto-Protect feature running at any one time!
If you decide to only keep one Anti-Virus installed,
you should uninstall the other(s) through the Add or Remove Programs option in Control Panel.

Please set your system to show all files.
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Please hide your hidden files and folders afterwards again, when we are done with this thread and your problems are solved, because above instructions to set your system to show all files, unhide legit files and folders as well.
And I don't want you to delete them because they may look suspicious. To hide them again, just perform the above instructions in the opposite way.

Delete next folders and files:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\egjlm.ini2
C:\Program Files\Anti Adware Pro Demo <== folder, because, fisrt of all, it's a trial and second, it's may be one of those rogue scanners. but first look if it is present in software > add/remove programs and uninstall it. Then delete the folder if still present.
C:\Program Files\PokerStars <== folder if you didn't install this, but first look if it is present in software > add/remove programs and uninstall it. Then delete the folder if still present.
C:\Program Files\iWin.com <== folder if you didn't install this, but first look if it is present in software > add/remove programs and uninstall it. Then delete the folder if still present.
This folder comes installed with online games, so most probably in this case with Pokerstars. The folder is containing extra references to other online games... so not needed.
C:\WINDOWS\pss\MyWebSearch Email Plugin.lnkStartup
C:\WINDOWS\pss\MyWebSearch Email Plugin.lnkCommon Startup

Open notepad and copy and paste next present in the quotebox below in it:
(don't forget to copy and paste REGEDIT4)

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSCONFIG\Startupfolder\C:^Documents and Settings^All Users^Start Menu^Programs^Startup^MyWebSearch Email Plugin.lnk]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSCONFIG\Startupfolder\C:^Documents and Settings^Owner^Start Menu^Programs^Startup^MyWebSearch Email Plugin.lnk]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSCONFIG\Startupreg\MyWebSearch Email Plugin]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSCONFIG\Startupreg\New.net Startup]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSCONFIG\Startupreg\NI.UWAS5LP_0001_0811]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSCONFIG\Startupreg\ShowWnd]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSCONFIG\Startupreg\ViewMgr]

Save this as fix.reg Choose to save as *all files and place it on your desktop.
It should look like this: Posted Image
Doubleclick on it and when it asks you if you want to merge the contents to the registry, click yes/ok.
(In case you are unsure how to create a reg file, take a look here with screenshots.)

Let me know in your next reply how things are running now.

Hi,

Glad I could help. Yes, BlueMedicine is the right one, but you don't have to donate. My help is for free and I am glad that we could fix your computer again.

To keep this clean in the future, I would suggest the following things:

Install Spywareblaster
SpywareBlaster doesn`t scan and clean for so-called spyware, but prevents it from being installed in the first place. It blocks the popular spyware ActiveX controls, and also prevents the installation of any of them via a webpage.

* Avoid illegal sites, because that's where most malware is present.
* Don't click on links inside popups.
* Don't click on links in spam messages claiming to offer anti-spyware software; because most of these so called removers ARE spyware.
* Download free software only from sites you know and trust. Because a lot of free software can bundle other software, including spyware.

Let your antispywarescanner(s) scan frequently and don't forget to update before.

And I do suggest you perform an online virusscan once in a while. (Housecall and/or Bitdefender). Because what one virusscanner can't find another one maybe can.
Also make sure that your virusscanner, the one that is installed on your system is always up to date!

Make sure your windows has the latest updates: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/
