Hello everyone, i am new here and just start learning the networking.

My computer default TTL value is 128. I pinged the destination 206.190.36.45 and got the TTL value 52.

From what i learned, the TTL value decreases by 1 everytime passing through 1 hop so i calculated the number hops in between is 128-52=76.

However, i use the pathping command and got 14 location in betwwen and what causes more confusion is that while i use the traceroute programme, it shows 11 locations in between. Can anyone help me figure out what i am wrong about?

Thanks.

It may not show you hops inside a MPLS, or a ISP L2 VPN between routers and other reasons..

You may find time outs happen during tracert, this can also be caused by a device not making itself visible that it has decremented a TTL.

So basically some L3 hops are invisible due to variables :) but be sure it did take that many hops!
