Hi, my computer could freeze any second, I'll have to make it quick! it's slooooooooow in all applications, and keeps freezing. I can't even reboot at times, I have to shut it down from the power supply button. Here is a HighjackThis log I finally managed to get...Pleaaaaaaaaaaase help, all my work is pending.....
BTW...sometimes I had to shut down EZ Trust firewall to be able to connect to the internet. Another thing is that a message keeps popping up saying that my Windows XP is not genuine...so maybe Microsoft is causing this so I purchase XP...!!??

Hello ismaouma and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I see no signs of viruses or malware in the log. It is clean.

It appears that you are running 2 firewalls (EZTrust and ZoneAlarm). Both are good but running 2 firewalls can cause many problems. Both are trying to do the same thing and can conflict with each other. I would suggest keeping whichever one you want and uninstalling the other one. This may very well eliminate your connection issues.

As for XP not being genuine, if this is a legitimate copy of XP then you can contact Microsoft and they will assist you in fixing the problem. Their new notification system has had some reported problems where genuine copies have been flagged as non-genuine.

Cheers.

Thank you for your reply. I thought I was using only one firewall EZ Trust, I couldn't find ZoneAlarm on my computer...!!? As for Windows XP, I couldn't tell you if it's genuine as I had it installed by someone. If it isn't genuine, could Microsoft be bugging my computer?
Now, the image on my screen has turned side ways (I have my monitor standing on its side so I can write to you right now!!!), I don't know how to fix this either...and yes the computer is still very slow! Hope you can help!! Thank you.

Hi ismaouma. I did some checking and it looks like EZTrust licenses ZoneLabs firewall for use in their product. That's why it looked like both products were installed. If the firewall is blocking all access to the internet then check the settings to make sure that it is not blocking IE or is not blocking all access.

If someone installed XP from a copy of Windows that you purchased and you have the CD then the WGA message could be in error. You can contact Microsoft to get it corrected. If someone just installed a copy of Windows that they had then your copy of Windows is not genuine and you will need to purchase a license from Microsoft to make the message go away.

As for the display, it could be either the driver of it could be the settings. Try going to the Control Panel and then Display and check to see that the correct driver is installed for the display adapter or if there are any settings for rotating the screen display. If that does not yield any results then I suggest posting a question in the XP forum and let them do a little research.

Cheers.
