If you can install both of these, it may happen that they do not interfere each other, but it is generally not advisable to use different programs at the same time if they do the same things.
If you are using, then at least one of them should only be manually triggered, that is, only one can work in real time. The problem appears usually, if they both want to  send quarantine or remove the same thing.

I won't recommend to use 2 antiviruses at same time unless one of them was designed to be a companion AV.

Heimdal is a software application that is designed to enhance your security when you're online. It's not designed to replace your antivirus or your firewall, but rather complement these security products.

BleepingComputer Review: Heimdal Free

Security for everyone - Reviewing Heimdal Pro

It is similar to using Secunia PSI (Personal Software Inspector) a security scanner which identifies programs that are vulnerable to exploit and need updating. There should be no problems using it.

You will receive varying opinions as to which is better...it's more a matter of personal preference.

It's not recommended to run 2 virus programs at a time but a lot of people run Malware and virus software at the same time. This is more of a problem if you have 2 virus software packages running real time. If you software doesn't do real time checking they are running at the same time so you could use 2 but do scans at different times. Real time means the it detects when attempting to install (running all the time). Non real time software will no remove or recognize it  when you install it but will remove when you do a scan.

Some companies free version of the software only do scans and the premium versions are real time.
