Hi, new one for me, go to search and type:- command prompt, right click on the returned command prompt and select "run as administrator" an elevated command prompt will open. Copy and paste the text below into the command prompt window:-

reg query "HKCR\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\new" > 0 & notepad 0

Press enter, this is safe it reads what your entry in the registry is (doesn't change anything). Notepad will open, please copy the output here.

Hi

Same problem started some days ago

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\new
    (Default)    REG_SZ    {D969A300-E7FF-11d0-A93B-00A0C90F2719}

I tried disabling all context menu options with shexview and it still crashed explorer when hovered over New (under right click anywhere)

Well... i think i was just lucky to notice that 360 total security context menu was missing.

After that i went into 360 total security and unchecked that option.

All good now.

Security measures probably ...

Thankz anyway! Hope that helps you too!

ok i got it working i uninstalled an app called send anywhere, the solution is to think of when this issue started and what applications were installed when this issue begun. then to uninstall the app you think is the culprit
