Win XP Home SP2, fully patched

Lately my clipboard seems to get stuck. I select some text, do Ctrl-C, but when I go to paste it into notepad or wherever, it pastes the prior contents instead.

Usually I am able to do Start-Run-Clipbrd and clear the contents (which are always shown in bold text) and then I can cut and paste text as usual.

However, the last time it happened, I cleared the clipboard but Windows still would not cut and paste. I had to reboot the computer to restore the function.

All suggestions welcomed.

TIA--
Dave

Hi Dave.
I can't help you with your Windows Clipboard problem, but I have used Clipboard Buddy for quite a while and find it very good. With a little tweaking it will hold up to 100 items which beats the 1 item which used to drive me nuts.

Clipboard Buddy is available HERE if you would like to try it. As with all my stuff, it is a freebie.

Cheers

A bit of googling leads me to believe that this is a problem with some program that's installed on your system. Many of these problems can be traced to how a program accesses the clipboard.

I'd suggest uninstalling any recently installed programs (one by one) and testing after a reboot.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the link. A more versatile clipboard sounds intriguing, I'm going to look into it.

Hi John,

Thanks for the advice, I'm pretty sure you're right. I am always playing with new programs, this time I guess I got bit. Time to do some old fashioned process-of-elimination troubleshooting.

Cheers,
Dave
