Internet on My Pc Alone has been slow

Hello

 

 

I'd like to note that a couple of months ago I got a NEW COMPUTER! It's a nice gaming computer and it runs much better compared to my old one, so theres no need to worry about viruses or anything anymore.

 

Back to the topic

 

 

The past couple of days have been very... slow. My internet speed suddenly dropped for some reason and it won't fix itself, I have tried troubleshooting, however it doesn't pick anything up. I have tried resetting my wireless adapter, I have tried restarting my computer and I have tried reseting the router/modem, nothing seems to be fixing the issue.

 

The weird thing is, it's only MY computer that's having this problem. My phone's internet, and my parent's internet is working perfectly fine. Like, idk whats going on. 

 

This has been happening for 3 days now and I'm getting pissed off, sometimes it just stops responding all together, like I can't play minecraft anymore because it's so slow.

 

I have ran full virus scans on both Avast! and Malwarebytes (I'm paranoid shhh) and nothing has come up, so it can't be a virus slowing my internet down. Also, yes, I have learned how to flush my DNS and I have done so, but still, nothing has happened.

 

I'll update this forum incase anything changes, but I doubt it will. So please tell me what you think might be causing this slowness. Thanks!

I hate it...when I see people mention Malwarebytes as The Antidote for all malware situations...it is not, never has been, doesn't claim to be...nothing is.  Take a look at the topics in BC's malware forums and this can be plainly seen.  Malwarebytes is a fine app...so are variou AV programs...but these are not the tools capable of dealing with all the various forms/types of malware which exist today.

 

I cannot say that malware is at the root of your system slowdown...but I can assert the such slowdowns are a common symptom of the various forms of malware that exist today.

 

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.
 
Checkmark the following checkboxes:
  List last 10 Event Viewer log
  List Installed Programs
  List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
 
Click Go and paste the content into your next post.
 
Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.

   Go to Piriform's website, and download the free version on the left.  Click Download from Piriform.com (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version. You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.

    After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.
 
     Once inside Speccy, it will look similar to this (with your computer's specifications, of course):

     Now, at the top, click File > Publish Snapshot.

     Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard

Now, once you are back in the forum topic you are posting in, click the ADD REPLY or REPLY TO THIS TOPIC button. Right-click in the empty space of the Reply box and click Paste. Then, click Add Reply below the Reply box.

I don't really feel comfortable downloading programs that I'm unfamiliar with, however since you're the only person whos asked me to download under 4 programs at once, I'll let it slide.

I don't see anything pointing to a problem other than your install for The Sims.  No immoderate RAM usage, no overheating, no hard drive problems...nothing pointing to anything other than Steam.

 

For peace of mind...I would  open a new topic in the Am I Infected forum., since the personnel there investigate the possibillity of malware.

Can you tell me whats wrong with my install of the sims? Because actually, whenever I try running it, it randomly crashes after a while. Interestingly enough, when my internet was out the other day (not related to the slowness of it) it didn't crash at all.

I can't tell you anything about The Sims, other than your system has a problem with it...which manifests itself in the errors in Event Viewer citing TSW3.exe and the Steam Client service.

 

I don't game and the errors reflected don't tell me why the problem exists.  It's normal for installed software to have problems due to damaged files, malware, hardware problems, and other things of which I am unaware or lacking knowledge.  The simplest way to find out if a given program/game install is a problem...uninstall that program/game and see if the problem is reflected without the program.
