Hello.

I tried upgrading my computer to Media Center 2005. The disks I used didn't do much; it went through the XP installation process and voila, I still have XP - no Media Center. I have decided to go out an buy the OEM versions; it's only 129CDN anyways.

The point is, ever since this was done, I have been unable to run any applications i.e. IE, Firefox, Media Player, Azureus, etc without the infamous "xxx has encountered a problem and needs to close" message.

If I ignore the message I can still use the apps; however, if I choose to send or not to send (that is the question) the app shuts down.

So here is what I have done so far...

I used Spybot and removed a few issues there.

Ran House Call which identified several vulnerabilities and a couple of spyware and malware bugs; however, my browser crashes before it removes them. I was using Firefox 1.5.0.7

These are some of the spyware and malware bugs it found prior to crashing:
SPYWARE_KEYL_ASTLOG
JAVA_BYTEVER.AQ
JAVA_BYTEVER.S
JAVA_BYTEVER.C
JAVA_BYTEVER.A

I also used stinger as advised.

Here is my most recent highjack this log. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
