Hey all,

so I have an issue where certain keys don't work on my laptop. mostly, space, backspace, fn, enter,...

it sounds like sticky keys but I have checked.

For example 'space' will only work when I hit the space button and then right arrow. otherwise space will act as a left arrow.

things I have tried:

-checked filter and sticky keys.

-ran malware bytes

-ran ccleaner

-ran the osk keyboard, works fine.

-reset windows, without deleting my personal files.

-uninstalled driver, let windows reinstall

please help!

Hi Xyllus,

Have you tried plugging in an external USB keyboard to see if the problem remains? If you have not, I would suggest testing a different keyboard. If that one works properly, then the problem is somewhere in your keyboard, and it is not a problem with Windows.

Sasschary has beaten me to it. Plug in a USB key board or as I used for more than 2 years a cableless keyboard.

Windows also has an On screen keyboard. It is a pain in the **** to use but it has saved my life on many occasions.

I sincerely hope your keyboard hasn´t been permentently damaged by a Trojan.

Good luck.

Clean the keyboard with compressed air (blow compressed air in the gaps between keys). This removes some lint and dust.

Shut down the laptop, removed battery and cable for a moment, press and hold the start button for 60 seconds... and replace the battery.. start the lap top.. if that does not work a technician is a must.

what is happening you probably have bad contacts, and when you press a different key it's able to finish the circuit for the first button to make the button work.

Replace the keyboard!

Thank you all for the responses!

the contact issue makes sense. Wednesday when I get back to work I will try to plug in an external one.

i'll also use pressurized air to clean it maybe that will help.

if all else fails I'll look into replacement!
