I am on a fresh install of Windows 7 professional, and on a brand new ssd so I'm not sure what the issue could be. After I turn on my computer, and start browsing the internet, my computer will freeze up for 30-60 seconds for no reason. When I check eventviewer, I see these couple events at the same time as the freezes;

Activation context generation failed for "c:\program files\amd\cim\bin64\SetACL64.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.MFC,processorArchitecture="amd64",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50608.0" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.

Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.

Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued.

x2

I don't use raid, so not sure why there is a warning for that, but the other 2, I have no idea. Anyone else have a clue?

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:
List last 10 Event Viewer log
  List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size.

Click Go and paste the content into your next post.

Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.

Go to Piriform's website, and download the free version on the left.  Click Download from Piriform.com (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version. You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.

After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.

Once inside Speccy, it will look similar to this (with your computer's specifications, of course):

post-33068-0-86653600-1480692866_thumb.j

Now, at the top, click File > Publish Snapshot.

Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard

Now, once you are back in the forum topic you are posting in, click the ADD REPLY or REPLY TO THIS TOPIC button. Right-click in the empty space of the Reply box and click Paste. Then, click Add Reply below the Reply box.

It seems to me that you are downloading system drivers...via Microsoft/Windows Update.  I suggest that this not be done, drivers for any AMD motherboard/CPU should be available from the motherboard manufacturer or the system manufacturer...or AMD.  With AMD, generally the drivers which were provided on the motherboard disk...are guaranteed to work properly, IME.

I see a bigger stumbling block...system reflects IE 8...which is not acceptable on Win 7 (Microsoft supports only IE 11).  Which probably explains, in part, your Microsoft Update errors.  You need to install IE 11, then try updating automatically.

Take A Look.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/internet-explorer-11-for-windows-7-details.aspx

You have a couple of Firefox processes that reflect peak RAM usage figures that are 3 or 4 times what one could reasonably expect.  You might want to troubleshoot those.,.they are reflected in the Speccy data.  A typical max figure for a browser process would be 300-400MB, IMO.

The driver download from windows update was almost a week ago and I already stopped it from showing up in windows update because it kept failing anyways, And as far as I thought, I installed everything I needed from AMD/MSI, so I don't know why that it kept showing up.

And that customer experience improvement program that you highlighted, I turned it off, so that should't be a problem, although I read that it can be ignored anyways.

You highlighted Avast, not sure why?

As far as IE8 goes, I'm pretty sure I uninstalled IE because I don't use it anyways.

And for the high firefox usage, I notice that I have 3 separate firefox processes in task manager, no clue why. But I do usually have 6-7 windows open, with around 15-20 tabs between them, so that could be why the ram usage is high, but still unsure why there's 3 processes in task manager. EDIT - apparently it's because of this https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/multiprocess.

Other than those things you pointed out, I don't think any of those have to do with the errors I posted above, or why the freezing happens shortly after getting to the desktop.

I only state what I see and think...that does not mean that I have "the answer" to what may be ailing your computer :).

Hello Dnap, please try to reduce your start-up, I guess you know how to do it in "msconfig". Disable all or select the one that you think is the reason of your computer freezing. Although it seems that you are having a Windows update problem but just give it a try.

Well in my startup, I only have 3 things turned on; Realtek HD USB audio manager, Avast antivirus, and USB 3.0 monitor. And that is out of 5 things...

Services on the otherhand, if I hide all Microsoft, then there is only 6 things there; Adobe flash player update service, AMD external events utility, 2x avast services, Mozilla maintenance service, and Adobe acrobat update service.

So as you can see, it's pretty barren when it comes to start up processes. And like I mentioned, it was a new install of Windows 7 on a brand new ssd, so it shouldn't really have much going on with it. And updates are working fine now, there was just that issue with one update related to the AMD smbus, but it hasn't happened since, and that was over a week ago with the update issue.
