I used online video converter to convert several youtube podcasts to mp3.

4 of them worked fine, however 1 of them has .part instead of mp3.

Could this be a virus?

I have not opened it yet, am I safe to shift + delete it?

My experience with such is that they are generated when a download does not complete...I've had a couple when trying to download Windows Updates or files and I assumed it was because I was trying to open a file which had not completely downloaded.

Luis is correct. The conversion did not complete. If you look at the directory where the file is being downloaded to you will see a .part file during the download which will change to .mp3 once completed. Are you using a firefox addon?
