Is there a free and relatively easy way to access the spreadsheet having forgotten the password I set?

Hi Bramish,

In you work for a company that uses the  "Office 2013 DocRecrypt tool to unlock password protected OOXML formatted Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files" there is hope. Contact your IT department to find out of they use tha Microsoft tool (from the link that Hamlouis had posted.)

If you have a personal copy of the Microsoft 2013 suite, your recovery of the forgotten Excel 2013 password is bleak <_<   In tiny words from Microsoft:

WARNING: It's important to know that if you don't remember your password Microsoft can’t retrieve

your forgotten passwords.

As this exact problem has happened for me, and others using 2013, it's the pits.

All the best wishes to you for finding better news.
