Using Windows 7.  I have 2 windows user accounts on my laptop - one for personal and one for work. My personal account works just fine but the work account has a problem. It will not connect to any web site using IE, Chrome, or Firefox. Any web site I try returns the message "This site cannot be reached". I can ping any IP address using DNS name or IP address with no problem. No proxy settings. I assume I have an infection.

Please help.

Possible your work account is also a domain account? Perhaps a work related security update was done. You talk to your work IT dept?

boopme, You might want to collaberate with JohnC_21 who instructed me.

If you suspect and infection then start a thread in the "Am I Infected" forum or the Virus Removal Forum where you can attach the logs requested in the Pinned Posts. I suspect your user profile has somehow been corrupted. I doubt it's an infection but the people in the above forums should be able to confirm if the computer is infected.

I am no longer employed there and haven't been connected to their domain in 2 years. It's just a local account now and it's been working fine until just a few weeks ago. I still use it for my personal business to segregate it from my home account.
