Hi

I have a Toshiba satellite laptop running windows 8.1

My volume control stops working all the time. Like I click on the speaker icon on the task bar and nothing happens, the slider bar won't pop up. I have sound but can't adjust it.

I either have to reboot the computer to get it working again or I right click on the speaker icon and go to playback properties and adjust the volume level there.

The volume adjuster just seems to stop at random, sometimes it will work all day and other times it will just work for a few minutes and stop.

It was working before it started writing this post and now it has stopped.

Any help will be appreciated.

Regards

Evan

I have read about this happening after the last Windows Update. The solution seems to be to reinstall your audio drivers from the manufacturer of your sound card.

How long has this been happening? You can try a system restore to an earlier time and see if that helps.

Its been like it for a long time I have been trying to fix it for months. I was hoping the upgrade to 8.1 would fix it. I am going to buy a new computer soon so am not too concerned about it. Just thought there might have been a fix someone knew.

Thanks for your help anyway.
