In my search for a free antivirus program suitable for Vista I came across Bitdefender

When I tried to download it it came back that I needed a different download for Vista with an alternative link

I followed the link and downloaded it only to find after having installed it I now have the 30 day trial version.

I only want a free version having such an old laptop I don't want to spend money on it

Should I uninstall it and use a diferent compatible free AV?

Could someone recommend what is best?

Thanks

There is no "best" for your situation...there is only what you want to do.

Kaspersky now has a free version available which works just fine in my XP install...I suspect that Vista will be no different.

Hi Louis, thanks for that

I've been searching for the free version but every one I follow takes me to a trial or a paid for version

It seems that any search I make using the word free asumes I want a free trial

Do you by any chance have a direct link to a free version for Windows?

Thanks

@julias,

having used all these in the past, I can recommend either of these; Avast, AVG and Avira.

Avast brought out AVG a while back, so probably skip AVG.

Instead of reading this, why not do a backup of your PC.

You won't regret it.
