What's the model of the notebook? We'll move on from there. If you don't have time or patience I would just exchange the entire machine, that's the easiest and fastest way out.

Did they ask you to reinstall your audio drivers? If not please do so now: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-17-x000-notebook-pc-series/11203107/model/15497010/swItemId/ob-166862-1
To do so, please uninstall Realtek HD Audio from the Control Panel first, then run the installer package you just downloaded.
