This is on an Acer Laptop and has in the past few days been detected by a program called AntiVir. AntiVir says it is removed but it keeps coming back. When running the Trend Micro online Scan it is detected but can not be removed. I Went into the registry settings and followed the recommended steps to remove it manually as listed on Trend Micro's website but it is still present. It has hijacked her (my girlfriends)IE browser and takes her to some russian website that has "Cert: Server51. 2x4.ru" on the page even though "http://www.google.com" is listed as the URL. I suspect it's a single program that somehow changes names. It has shown up as TROJ_SMALL.UW and as TROJ_SMALL.UN and as some sort of dialer as well. It is no longer detected by trendmicro. If I cant fix it we will try reinstalling windows after erasing the hard drive contents. She need this Laptop because she works from home. I suspect it was recieved via email.

Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated!

Hello moebetta and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I do not see any signs of viruses or malware in the log.

Let's try a different scanner and see what it finds.

Download WinPFind2.zip and unzip it to your Desktop. It will create a folder named WinPFind2. Do NOT run the program directly from the zip file.
  • Open the WinPFind2 folder and double-click on winpfind2.exe to start the program.
  • In the File Options group click the Select All button.
  • In the Other Options group click both checkboxes for Show All.
  • In the AddOn-Options group click the checkboxes for:
    • HKCU_IEDesktop.def
    • Policies.def
    • SID_Run_Policies.def
    to select them.
  • Now click the Run All Scans button on the toolbar. this will take a little time to run.
  • When the scans are complete click the Simple Report button in the lower right-hand corner to create a report file. Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
  • Click the Format menu and make sure that Wordwrap is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.
Use the Add Reply button to post the information back here and I will review it when it comes in. There will be alot of information so you might need to break it into multiple posts when you post it back.

Cheers.
