The Recovery disks you made are not a replacement for Windows System Restore. They are meant for a destructive recovery of your complete system to restore it back to factory condition.

Windows System Restore only restores your system state back to a maximum of three weeks and does not delete your data as the Emachines restore will do. You need both working and operable.

If you have Windows System Restore shut off - turn it back on!

You can start System Restore in safe mode and you can manually create restore points for it although it does create them automatically whenever the computer is booted and whenever you install a new program.

Click start/help and type in System Restore for a full description of what it does and how to use it.

To start it from safe mode boot into safe mode with command prompt and type the following in the prompt and press "enter":

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
