Kaspersky has always offered top protection. All this business about it being run by an ex-KBG person and Russian spyware is just a lot of FUD.

Hmm, looks interesting.

Still have a number of friends using Windows (haven't convinced them to make the jump to Mint...yet) so this looks promising.

As for this "business about it being run by an ex-KBG person and Russian spyware" I have to agree, 100% cr*p.

Thanks for the post & the link.

onward ~

I don't get a working link for this "free AV".

Found one at https://www.downloadcrew.com/article/35293-kaspersky_free_antivirus .

Downloaded, installed on XP system...download only took a couple of minutes or so.  Now running scan, projected time to completion:  50 minutes.  Triple boot (XP, Win 7, Win 10.  888,000 files scanned.

You know if I'm agreeing with *anything* hamluis is saying, something is wrong, but alas, I'm not getting a working link either.

Clicked on any number of links in that blog article.

Perhaps the response is bigger than they expected?

I'll stumble around and click though some more later.

Most of what I clicked on just led me to their website: usa (dot) kaspersky (dot) com and then almost crashed my browser, LOL.

None the less, still glad to be aware of it, so again, thanks.

Kaspersky Launches Free Antivirus

The debut of the new freeware antivirus, however, will take place in stages, and while in July the biggest global markets, US, Canada, and Kazakhstan are projected to get it, countries like the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Spain would only receive the security software in October...There are no ads, though you are prompted to purchase the full Kaspersky Internet Security should you want to enable some premium features.
