When a repair is carried out via the Windows 7 installation disk.

( Select Language - Repair Option etc)

Does Windows 7 create a text log of the repair process  detailing what the fault was and what was repaired ?

If so where would I locate the file?

Hello Louis

I've already Googled before posting my initial question.

Google was unsuccessful returning a relevant link to my question.

I suppose your Relevant Link response is for Lineikosen's post.

Thanks

Correct, my mistake...on some days, I make more than others.  I could say it comes from my habit of looking only at most current posts...but it was just sloppiness on my part.

I have split those posts into a new topic for that member.  I will try to pay more attention in the future :).

Louis

Louis

Thanks, thought I'd ask just in case you intended the post for me and posted the wrong link.

I assume you are talking about Startup Repair. To my knowledge, no log is written after the repair. It may take up to three attempts to complete a repair.

Opera

Thanks for the SrtTrail.txt link.

:thumbup2:

The log reports each Performed Test, as successful.

As I've rebooted several times (since the boot repair from Windows & Installation Disk), I now wonder

if the SrtTrail.txt file's overwitten on the subsequent boots.

Maybe there is a SrtTrail.bak file of previous logs, although a search for such, was zero !

Thanks again, any other suggestions welcome !
