Chrome opens "where I left off" instead of my designated home page

Yes, I have opened settings and checked that I have "open s specific page" checked under 'startup".  This is about to drive me sterile.

I have the same issue. The only way I can see around this is to open your home page. Close any other tabs. Right click the home page tab and select Pin tab. When browsing do not use this pin tab. Open a few new tabs and then close Chrome. Open Chrome and all the tabs will be gone except the pinned home tab.

thanks for the work-a-round JohnC.   I will try to use this until I can figure what is up with the Google-gods.
