Hi,

I altered a registry entry for winlogon.exe because it was suggested in Superantispware after I ran it because my Internet was taking forever to load pages. Now I do not get the icons to log into Windows at start up, just wallpaper and Alt-Ctrl_Del does not work. I have produced logs of FSRT and HijackThis in safe mode which I can log into. Please let me know if there is still an infection and if so how to remove it, and how I can get my logon icons back in normal mode. Thanks in advance for any help received.

There are no signs of viruses in your computer.

Restore the computer to a previous date. Run the following command at a prompt:

C:\windows\system32\rstrui.exe

Follow the instructions prompted.

That should undo any changes in the registry.

thanks for your reply.

I'm still having problems running my computer in normal mode.

It becomes unresponsive and I can't even shut it down without switching it off manually. It is working OK in safe mode with networking.

I found a similar thread on bleeping computer here: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/549181/cannot-end-csrssexe-winlogonexe-processes-please-help-remove-infection/

Please can you suggest any follow up actions I can do to check if I have an infection like running ComboFix.

thanks for your help,

No need, as I don't see malware problems. The symptoms look as a hardware issue. If you ran System Restore, Open FRST, make sure Addition.txt is checked and rescan. Post the new FRST and Addition logs.
