My sound is very weak, almost inaudible using headphones with a 3.5 mm jack plugged into the top front of my desktop computer.  The fit is a little loose.  I don't want wireless headphones because of increased electromagnetic fields.  Would you recommend USB headphones or some other solution?  Dave

It could be that the front output is Line Output only, or needs to have its setting altered manually in Sound Playback if it is not auto detecting headphones.

But using a USB device sounds like a reasonable option.

I don't mean to step on your stream but I should have clarified, I'm not using headphones. Slighly different from the original poster.  I like to just hear it through cpu

I was addressing the specifics of the OP's issue, as it is their topic. If you'd like to have your own situation looked at, I can split your posts out into their own topic.
