my uncle has a email from MSN and can't delete the email because the computer or program hangs or stops responding and has to restart the computer or press ctr + alt + del and end OE that way. Is there another way of removing the email?

# Try turning off the preview pane in Outlook (use View / Layout and UNcheck Show Preview Pane). Then right-click the offending message and select Delete.

# Some users report success with pressing the Shift and Delete keys after highlighting the message. Note: This technique will delete the message without sending it to the Deleted Items folder.

# Finally, it's possible that the undelete-able email does not contain any harmful content, but attempting to open it triggers a flaw in your anti-virus scanner. If you are certain that the email is a harmless message from a known person (and they are using anti-virus software), you could try suspending your anti-virus program, then attempt to delete the message.

Is the Email in his In-box or in another folder? You can simply delete the folder (you will lose everything in it, so be careful) and OE will rebuild the folder when next you launch it.

the MSN email is in the inbox. he has other emails in there he wants. he can delete any other emails it's only that particular email that makes outlook express do this.

1. right click and delete didn't work because it made OE non responding.
2. dragging to the recycle bin made OE non responding
3. even just highlighting the email makes OE non responding

it can't be a virus could it? it's just from windows messenger (MSN)

hope he won't have to reinstall windows.

Do a search for "inbox.dbx". Open in folder. Right click on it and allow your antivirus and antispyware to scan it.

his mcafee cirus scanner didn't detect the email as infected virus thingy, he ended up contacting his internet service provider about it and has sorted it out by sending an email to MSN then got reply from MSN and somehow it deleted so i'm sure of the details of the processes he went throught to fix this but has lost a few things in OE but no drama.
