I have a laptop I haven't used in years because it was infected with one of those fbi viruses. Now I want to fix it but my main problem is that I can't remember the password for the administrator account. It is a Windows 7 OS.

When I hit f8 or f12 on start up it won't give me any reset or repair options. I also tried to use a system repair cd made from another laptop and it won't run.

I need the password so I can at least log in to the admin account through safe mode and hopefully factory reset from there.

I don't have the original CD or a Windows CD to restore from. I looked online and sometimes Dell has the files you can download to a cd and use, but they don't have the option for this laptop anymore.

So first of all, how can I change or bypass the admin password?

I need to find a free way to do this.

After I get into the admin account in safe mode, I should be able to do a factory reset right? Will that get rid of the fbi virus?

Thank you!!!

Lazesoft Recover My Password needs to be installed on another computer in order to build a bootable CD/DVD.

Free for Home use, bottom of the page

I would enable the hidden Administrator Account and then work through it to reset your other local accounts.

You may be able to remove the FBI virus using Kaspersky's Rescue disk and it's available Windows Unlocker. It's a bootable disk working outside of Windows.

If you need a Windows 7 disc -- download a Windows 7 ISO directly from Microsoft - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7

Burn it to DVD or USB using an app like ImgBurn - http://www.imgburn.com/

I lost quite a bit of data in the last month, my laptop crashed hard drive. I was looking to buy data recovery products, but low efficiency. An advice for you, data recovery is very difficult.
